Jeb Bush and his Fellow Progressives are Wrong about Illegal Immigrants

Mexico is moving north. Ethnically, linguistically, and culturally, the verdict of 1848 is being overturned. Will this Mexican nation within a nation advance the goals of the Constitution? Or has our passivity in the face of this invasion imperiled our union. – Pat Buchanan, Suicide of a Superpower

Against the will of the majority of Americans, America is being transformed. – Pat Buchanan, State of Emergency

Jeb Bush told us that when people from Mexico and Central America enter the U.S. illegally, it is “an act of love.” They are not criminals or freeloaders; they are lovers. Jeb Bush and his ilk make excuses for illegal immigrants and sing their praises, but never talk positively about America or the American people.

Illegal immigrants from Mexico and Central America are not entering the U.S. because they are overflowing with love. In fact, if you read a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety on “significant border incidents,” you will find that illegal immigrants have created a war zone on the southern border and throughout Texas that has claimed the lives of countless Americans. The inconvenient truth for Jeb Bush, his fellow progressives, the mainstream media, corporatists, and the U.S. Chamber of Crony Capitalism is that illegal immigrants engage in drug trafficking, human trafficking, sex trafficking, and murderous rampages that leave Americans dead.

Every illegal immigrant is a criminal because he or she entered the U.S. illegally, which is why they are illegal immigrants. Can you break federal and state laws and expect a pass? Illegal immigrants didn’t come to America bearing the gift of love; they came out of selfishness. They came to take jobs from Americans, and they are here to take advantage of a large, corrupt welfare state.

The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) released a study this month that studied the use of welfare programs by immigrant and native households. The study revealed that “immigrant households use welfare at significantly higher rates than native households.” The following is a list of salient points:

  • Welfare use is high for both new arrivals and well-established immigrants. Of households headed by immigrants who have been in the U.S. for more than two decades, 48 percent access welfare.
  • Immigrant households have much higher use of food programs (40 percent vs. 22 percent for natives) and Medicaid (42 percent vs. 23 percent).
  • Welfare use varies among immigrant groups. Households headed by immigrants from Central America and Mexico (73 percent), the Caribbean (51 percent), and Africa (48 percent) have the highest overall welfare use.
  • In the four top immigrant-receiving states, use of welfare by immigrant households is significantly higher than that of native households: California (55 percent vs. 30 percent), New York (59 percent vs. 33 percent), Texas (57 percent vs. 34 percent), and Florida (42 percent vs. 28 percent).
Illegal immigrants are accessing welfare programs funded by American taxpayers at a much higher rate than Americans. The study doesn’t separate out anchor babies and their families, nor does it separate out naturalized immigrants who were on welfare as illegals and remained on welfare after receiving citizenship, because they are considered Americans, they are counted as native households, which means the numbers for native households are inflated. An anchor baby is a golden ticket to citizenship and welfare dollars. Amnesty and citizenship grant access to 83 welfare programs

Bush and his fellow progressives argue that illegal immigrants are barred from accessing welfare programs, but it is simply not true. As the CIS study explains:

Most new legal immigrants are barred from welfare programs when they first arrive, and illegal immigrants are barred as well. But the ban applies to only some programs; most legal immigrants have been in the country long enough to qualify for at least some programs and the bar often does not apply to children; states often provide welfare to new immigrants on their own; naturalizing makes immigrants eligible for all programs; and, most important, immigrants (including illegal immigrants) can receive welfare on behalf of their U.S.-born children who are awarded citizenship at birth.

The argument for providing amnesty for illegal immigrants and open borders is spurious at best. America’s southern border is wide open and has to be secured. All illegal immigrants must be deported. Legal immigrants have to be barred from receiving welfare. Legal immigrants who were granted entrance into America by fed gov bureaucrats and overstayed their visas have to be tracked down and deported.

America and Americans, first, second, and third!
